Edward McKendree Bounds

Dr. Edward McKendree (E. M.) Bounds (1835-1913) was a leader in the Holiness movement in the late 1800s and early 1900s and wrote several books on the importance of prayer as a spiritual discipline. He was an influential pastor to B. F. Haynes, the first editor of the Herald of Holiness. Haynes wrote a eulogy for Dr. Bounds in an early issue.

He was married first to Emma. The couple bore three children, Celeste, Corneille, and Edward. After Emma's death, he married Harriet with whom he fathered three sons, Samuel, Charles, and Osborne, and three daughters, Elizabeth, Mary, and Emmie.
